Ao Sane Beach is 100 m of sand in 奈汉, partly sheltered by headlands, without lifeguards, reached by 公路 free of charge. Best months to swim: November–April; rip-current risk from May to October: moderate. Good for snorkelling, quiet.
Ao Sane is the string of three small coves on the northern headland of 奈汉 bay, reached by driving through the grounds of The Nai Harn hotel and along a narrow road: coarse sand, granite boulders, a rocky reef with the best snorkelling in the south after Ya Nui, and a low-key restaurant and bungalows that have been there for decades. It is the antithesis of a resort beach. The headland gives it some shelter from the south-west swell but it is not lifeguarded and the rocks make the entry awkward in any surf; a calm-month beach for people who snorkel. Sea kayaks come round from 奈汉.
