April 1 – 30, 2027 · approximate · Patong
Patong hotel demand on top of Songkran demand — the two together make mid-April the hardest week of the dry season to book in Patong. Beach Road and the Loma Park end are closed or reduced for the event; scooter rental supply tightens island-wide.
Thai public holiday
April 6, 2027
Closed government counters and a domestic long weekend at the start of the busiest domestic month. Beaches, restaurants and boats all operate; hotel rates are still at high-season level but softening from the February peak.
Thai public holiday
April 13 – 15, 2027
The last big peak of the dry season: Patong is fully booked, rates hold at high-season level into mid-April and only fall afterwards. Expect road closures, surge-priced taxis, closed government offices for several days and a spike in road accidents — the Thai press calls the week the seven dangerous days.
Oct 15, 2026 – May 15, 2027
The single hardest constraint on a Phuket itinerary: a trip planned between 16 May and 14 October cannot include the Similans at all. Inside the window, December to February sells out first and April is the quietest month with good sea.

April is a transition month and it behaves like one. The sea is still calm for most of it, the rain is beginning, and the temperature is at its annual maximum — this is the month when the difference between an air-conditioned room and a fan room stops being a matter of taste. The Similan park closes on 15 May, so April is the last full month for the northern islands.
Songkran is the middle three days. The traditional form is water poured respectfully over hands and Buddha images at Wat Chalong; the Patong form is a soaking, three-day street battle on Bangla and Beach Road, with the local family version at Saphan Hin in Phuket Town. Phuket Bike Week is staged around the same week in Patong, which makes mid-April the hardest week of the season to book a Patong room. The Thai press calls the holiday the seven dangerous days, and the road-accident numbers are the reason.
The second half of April is one of the best-value windows of the year: the holiday crowd has gone, rate cards start to slide towards low season, and the sea has usually not turned yet.
