July is the contradiction of the Phuket calendar. Meteorologically it is deep monsoon: wet, windy, with the west-coast swell near its peak and island boats cancelled at short notice. Commercially it is busy, because British, French, German, Russian, Chinese, Korean and Australian school holidays all land in it. Occupancy climbs while the rate card stays at its low-season level, which is why July is the best value-for-crowds trade in the whole year.
