Vachira Phuket Hospital

The province's public referral hospital, opened as Vachira Hospital on 1 January 1920 and today a level-A regional hospital of the Ministry of Public Health with about 2,300 staff, sixteen operating theatres, a trauma centre, cardiac and cancer centres and an international department that deals with embassies and insurers. Its own site lists an underwater and hyperbaric medicine centre, but its availability for divers in 2026 could not be confirmed, so the chamber is not listed here. Foreigners pay under the ministry's fee schedule; the wards are crowded (general-ward occupancy 93% and ICU above 100% on the hospital's July 2025 snapshot) and the working language is Thai.
