Adds Korean arrivals to the island's quietest quarter without moving hotel medians much: September is the low point of the MOTS occupancy series, so the extra demand is absorbed. Flights from Seoul are the expensive part, not the room.

Phuket Town hotels sell out for the nine days while the beach areas barely notice; taxi and minibus demand into town triples on procession mornings. Streets on the route close from dawn, firecracker smoke is constant, and almost every kitchen in the Old Town switches to a vegan menu.

A median September brings 966,975 hotel guest arrivals in Phuket with occupancy around 66.8%, which makes it the 11th busiest month of the twelve in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports series. September is the low point of the Phuket year on almost every measure: fewest visitors, lowest occupancy, cheapest rooms, most rain days. The northern school holidays are over, the Asian ones have not started, and the island belongs to residents and to the small group of visitors who have worked out that a wet Phuket morning is usually a dry one.
Maya Bay is closed for the whole month. The west coast is still under red flags on many days, and the Similan park does not reopen until 15 October, so the sea programme is Phang Nga Bay, Coral and Racha on the calm days, and the east coast otherwise.
Korean Chuseok falls in late September in most years, which brings a short, visible wave of Korean groups into an otherwise empty island — the only demand event of the month.
