Phuket Town hotels and guesthouses fill for the weekend; the beach areas are unaffected. The Old Town streets are closed to cars from the afternoon, so arrive by taxi or minibus and expect to walk the last few blocks.

February is the month the climate normals like best: least rain, calm sea, days warm rather than hot and nights that are almost cool by Phuket standards. Nothing about the weather constrains a February itinerary, which is why it is the month for the things that need a still sea and a clear sky — Similan liveaboards, sailing, the long-tail hop to the Coral and Racha islands, sunrise at Big Buddha.
