Rawai is a long-stay town with a pier, not a resort beach, and its hotel list is short. The Vijitt Resort, on the Friendship Beach side, is the main upmarket property; Serenity Resort & Residences is near the pier; beyond those, the stock is small hotels, guesthouses and a large number of apartments and houses. Cheap rooms and hostels are concentrated around the pier and along the main road, serving the Muay Thai and diving crowd, which gives Rawai a healthy three-star sample and one of the lowest medians for that class.
The five-star sample is too small for a figure and the district has no beach resort in the west-coast sense. What Rawai does have is housing: pool villas in the estates off Soi Saiyuan and the Rawai–Nai Harn road, older single-storey houses in the back sois, townhouses inland and, along the main road towards Chalong, a decade of condominium growth that supplies most furnished one-bedroom rentals.
