James Bond Island depuis Phuket : prix, inclus, meilleure saison (2026)
Families with children, non-swimmers, anyone visiting in the monsoon months, photographers. The canoeing is passive — a paddler does the work — so it suits older travellers too. Less suited to people who want snorkelling: the bay is silty, not a reef.

The James Bond Island trip is really a Phang Nga Bay trip: a day among the limestone towers that rise out of the shallow, sheltered bay between Phuket and the mainland, with the famous leaning rock as the photo stop in the middle. Boats leave from the north-east corner of the island — Ao Po Grand Marina for speedboats and most big boats, Bang Rong Pier for longtails — which is 30 to 60 minutes from the main resort areas by hotel van.
The classic version is a big boat that carries inflatable canoes: a paddler takes two passengers at a time through the tidal caves of Panak Island and into the open-roofed lagoons, then again at Hong Island, then the boat moves on to Khao Phing Kan for the James Bond photographs and Koh Tapu, and to Koh Panyee, the Muslim fishing village on stilts, for lunch. The speedboat version does the same stops faster and adds a beach — Naka or Lawa Island — in the afternoon. Both are eight to nine hours door to door.
The bay is the reason this is the tour to book in the monsoon. Phang Nga Bay is enclosed on three sides, so when the Andaman swell stops Phi Phi and Similan boats between May and October, the Phang Nga trip usually still runs, with showers rather than waves as the risk. The caves, however, depend on the tide, not the weather: paddlers can enter them only around low water, so the order of stops changes from day to day and an operator who swaps Panak for Hong is following the tide table.
What the ticket includes is the boat, the canoe and its paddler, hotel pickup, lunch at Koh Panyee and a guide. What it does not include is the Ao Phang Nga National Park fee — 300 baht per foreign adult, 150 per child, cash, collected before landing on James Bond Island — and the paddler's tip. The index price is a join-in seat per adult on the standard day trip; the range is wide because the big-boat and speedboat versions sit at opposite ends of it.
Against the other tours in the septembre 2026 revision, James Bond Island is number 3 of 8 priced tours, cheapest first: Big Buddha & temples ($26) and Coral / Racha ($39) are cheaper; Old Town walk ($59), Sunset cruise ($60), Phi Phi Islands ($63), Similan Islands ($76) and Elephant sanctuary ($88) are dearer. The hub table lines all eight up with hours, piers and park fees.
La journée, étape par étape
Panak IslandSea-canoeing through tidal caves into hidden lagoons (hongs) — a guide paddles, you sit; the caves are passable only around low tide, so the order of stops changes with the tide table.
Hong IslandA second canoe leg into the open-roofed lagoon; mangroves and macaques.
Khao Phing Kan — James Bond Island — and Koh TapuThe leaning rock and the needle islet from The Man with the Golden Gun (1974); about 45 minutes ashore among souvenir stalls. Park fee collected here.
Koh PanyeeLunch in the Muslim fishing village built on stilts; a mosque, a floating football pitch and a school.
Naka or Lawa IslandAn afternoon beach and swim stop on speedboat itineraries; big-boat trips end with a canoe at Talu Island instead.
Bateau: Big boat with sea-canoes (classic) or speedboat (faster, more stops); longtail versions from Bang Rong. Formats de groupe: Speedboat 30–40 · big boat 40–100 with 2-seat inflatable canoes · private longtail 6–8.

Saison, mois par mois
Phang Nga Bay is enclosed by the mainland and Phuket's east coast, so it stays workable through the south-west monsoon when the west-coast islands are rough; rain showers, not swell, are the monsoon risk here. Canoe caves depend on the tide, not the season.

Pièges
Two products share one name: the big-boat trip with canoes is the classic and the cheapest; the speedboat trip adds beach stops and costs more. Check which one you are buying.
The 300 THB park fee is cash, on the day, and not in most headline prices.
Canoe paddlers are tipped separately; the guide will say so on the boat.
Koh Panyee is a village with a mosque — cover shoulders and knees when walking through it.
Sea caves are entered only around low water; on some days the order reverses or one cave is dropped. That is the tide, not a cut corner.
Règles sur place
Do not touch the cave ceilings or the mangrove roots from the canoe; keep voices down inside the hongs; no drones over Koh Panyee without the village's permission.
How much is the James Bond Island tour from Phuket?
$52 per adult was the median of 12 join-in listings in septembre 2026 (range $35–$109); the low end is the big-boat-with-canoes trip, the high end the speedboat version with beach stops. The 300 THB park fee is extra, in cash.
Does the James Bond Island tour run in the rainy season?
Usually yes. Phang Nga Bay is sheltered by the mainland and Phuket's east coast, so it stays calm when the west-coast islands are rough; the monsoon risk is rain showers, not swell. It is the island tour to choose between May and October.
Is the Ao Phang Nga national park fee included?
Rarely. The fee is 300 THB per foreign adult and 150 THB per child, paid in cash to the park or to the guide before landing on Khao Phing Kan. Rate verified 2026-09-05.
Big boat or speedboat for James Bond Island?
The big boat is cheaper, slower and calmer, and is the version with the classic sea-canoeing through the Panak and Hong caves; the speedboat covers the same stops faster and adds an afternoon beach (Naka or Lawa). For children and non-swimmers the big boat is the easier day.
Which pier do Phang Nga Bay tours leave from?
Ao Po Grand Marina (speedboats, most big boats) or Bang Rong Pier (longtails and some big boats), both on the north-east coast near Pa Khlok. On the site's distance model that is 30–40 minutes from Phuket Town and Bang Tao and about an hour from Patong, Kata and Rawai.
